Slideshare is an awesome tool that could be used by alot of students to share and publish their ppt's. I plan to share this cool tool with all of my staff and especially my students. We so much with powerpoint and struggle with sharing the powerpoint with parents and other students. This will help alot.

The picturetrail is going to come in handy for web publishing. Teachers are going to be able to use this on their web pages as well.

Thing 7

I personally have no problems with email and IMing in school. It is the school who has a problem with both. I do have email accounts for all of my 7th and 8th grade students and this is the only email they can use in school. It is used professionally and we do provide instruction on proper use. I can see instant messaging as being very powerful for troubleshooting and helping students with questions.

I have participated in many webinars and really like this educational tool. I really wish I could generate this from my desktop for my patrons and staff for instruction and staff development.

Maybe in the near future my staff will start to become on board with this.

Thing 6

I used the cool image tools for my principal's 40th birthday. My students like using these in their powerpoints and in some of their documents. Seeing that I manage the school website as well. Some of these cool images will be useful there as well.

I just added a widget today. Not sure if it is on the list of things to do, but I was exploring other people's blogs and found some cool widgets. I added one of them to my blog. Check out your fortune!!!

Thing 5 - Flickr and more

I have been having way too much fun with Thing 5 and all of the Flickr tools. My wife would really love manipulating the pictures of staff members at her school. Students would really enjoy this as well. It makes all students equal when you start to manipulate the pictures to make them funny. I'll be back to explore more and other features or tools for my online pictures. I have had picture albums online for quite a few years now, so this will allow me to take it to a new level.

Thing 4 - Flickr

I already have a Flickr account, but I only had used it personally to post pictures online for other family members to view and so that I could order prints from Target. Easy to use.

After looking at the other library sites, I see that I could use this to promote the Media Center and or other programs in the media center. Other school clubs and groups could also create accounts to promote their programs. Now on to the advanced features.

I have toyed with RSS feeds a little before. I see the power in them and the time savings. I think the use in school could be endless from academic clubs and activities to athletics to parent information to homework assignments and updates. Know I just need to get other people on board as to how we publish these and provide these updates and then get the feeds to our groups. I even think that our activities calendar program provides and RSS feed, so we are very close to having that going. Cool!Cool!Cool!Cool!Cool!Cool!Cool!

Thing 2

23 things on a stick has prompted me to take some time to look at some of those things I have always been curious about with the web, but just never got to. I have always been one to push the envelope for the next best thing in technology, but it seems lately that I just haven't had time to keep up or find the newest thing. The teachers will feel the biggest impact here because of my exploring the 23 things. From what I learn, I always share with them how this can impact their classroom. I really truly feel that these 23 things will make a big impact on my school, my library, and most importantly my students.

Finding time. If I am fired up about something or challenged to do something, I will find time. I plan to find time in my school day after the students are gone to check out something new. I'll take a half hour to explore and look at the 23 things. I may get home later, but when I get home I usually don't get to the school work. So yes, we can find time, It's just in our priorities.

I think I got this Thing 1 item covered. Learned alot about blogger and even added an avatar. I will certainly show others how easy it is and how they can use it in their classroom or personal life. This is way easier than I ever anticipated. Heck, may even show my mother-in-law who journals every day. She may like to share her randoms thoughts to the rest of the world. The avatar is somewhat close, I'll have to keep working on that item.
